Meet Dr. Brittany
Hello everyone! My name is Brittany, I have been a physical therapist for over 6 years and specialized in pelvic floor therapy about 3 years ago. I loved treating orthopedic conditions (back, knee, shoulder, etc) at the start of my career, but once I began learning about pelvic health, I fell in love!
Pelvic floor symptoms usually feel so uncomfortable or embarrassing to talk about, but they really shouldn’t be because that’s all they are, symptoms! Together, we can get to the root of the problem and SOLVE it. That way, the next time you tell someone about the symptoms you once had, you can laugh about it!
When I’m not at work, I am usually spending my time with my amazing husband and two WILD boys. We love to go camping, fishing, hiking, and just about anything outdoors!

Got Questions?
Why would I need pelvic floor therapy?
Pelvic floor therapy can treat a wide range of conditions, but in a nutshell, anything that is bothering you in the areas of bowel, bladder, or sexual function, so this can include:
- Urinary incontinence (leaking)
- Urgency or frequent urination
- Constipation
- Pelvic pain
- Pain with intercourse
- Pregnancy and postpartum recovery
- Pelvic heaviness or prolapse
- Low back, hip, or tailbone pain
- Core weakness or abdominal separation
- Difficulty emptying bladder or bowels
Do I need to have had children to benefit?
No, pelvic floor dysfunction can affect anyone! Dr. Brittany works with women who have never been pregnant, menopausal women, men, athletes, teenagers, and even patients after surgery! Everyone has a pelvic floor, so everyone can benefit from improving its function.
Can men go to Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy?
Yes, absolutely!
Men have pelvic floor muscles too, and they play an important role in urination, bowel control, sexual function, and core stability. When these muscles become weak, tight, or uncoordinated, it can lead to symptoms, like leakage, pelvic pain, erectile dysfunction, bowel troubles, or persistent back and hip pain.
Pelvic floor therapy addresses the underlying muscle dysfunction – whether related to surgery, stress, athletic strain, or conditions such as prostate cancer – so men can restore strength, control, and confidence.
What happens during the first visit?
Your first visit is focused on understanding your history, your symptoms, and “the why.”
This includes a detailed conversation about your symptoms, muscle assessment, education of the pelvic floor muscle system and why symptoms can occur, and also education on any lifestyle changes necessary to improve your symptoms. We will also discuss scheduling and pricing as well.
Internal examination is optional and only performed with your full consent. Many patients improve with external treatment alone.
Is pelvic floor therapy internal?
Not always, but it is an option; internal treatment is only used when appropriate and always with your permission. However, treatment often includes:
- Muscle release and hands-on manual treatments
- Stretching and strengthening exercises
- Core muscle training
- Breathing retraining
- Posture correction
- Education
Is pelvic floor therapy painful?
In pelvic floor therapy, we are trying to improve muscle dysfunction and sometimes that can cause some tenderness, soreness, or discomfort, but treatment should never feel aggressive or unsafe. The amount of pressure used during hands-on work is always tailored to your comfort-level! Most patients actually feel pain relief, improved tightness, and increased mobility within the first few sessions.
How many visits will I need?
This varies depending on your symptoms and goals. Many patients notice improvement within the first few visits, but to get you where you need to be can take 6-8 sessions.
Our goal is not for you to be here forever, but make sure to improve your symptoms and give you the tools to maintain those results.
Do I just do Kegels?
No! Kegels may be something we add into care for certain patients, but pelvic floor therapy is very individualized, so you will only get Kegels if they are right for you. Many people actually have pelvic floor muscles that are too tight, so adding Kegels could make you worse.
Ultimately, treatment focuses on restoring proper function throughout the core and pelvis, which may include strengthening, relaxation, coordination, and breathing—not just Kegels.
Is it too early or too late to start pelvic floor therapy?
It is never too early or too late, improvement is always possible.
Pelvic floor therapy is beneficial:
- During pregnancy
- As early as 6 weeks after delivery
- Years later
- During menopause
- Even if symptoms have been present for decades
