What integrative medicine means here

It is the bridge between traditional and functional medicine. We practice regular medicine with a more holistic approach. Medication is available, but we do not rush to it to put a bandage over a problem. We try to get to the root of the issue so medication can be avoided when possible.

What does your body need? What does it do poorly with? We support the endocrine system, which means thyroid, hormones and how you handle sugar, and we talk about lifestyle, diet, stress and supplements. None of it is one size fits all. It is built for you.

How this is different

From functional or holistic medicine: many of those practitioners cannot prescribe. We can, so you get the full toolbox without the detours, and we work to get you feeling better faster.

From concierge medicine: you get the longer visits and the personal attention, but there is no monthly or yearly membership fee.

From your primary care doctor: both work. Keep your PCP and let us handle the rest, or let us handle everything. We are protective of our patients, not possessive.

Symptoms people live with for years

These get written off as “just getting older” or “just stress.” They are not normal, and a conventional workup often misses what is behind them.

  • Fatigue that sleep does not fix
  • Brain fog
  • Constipation or acid reflux
  • Joint pain
  • Headaches
  • Low libido
  • Weight that will not move
  • Irritability, anxiety or low mood

What we routinely find that was missed

Inflammation

CRP, ESR, homocysteine and uric acid. Inflammation sits under a lot of symptoms and is rarely checked.

Hormones read for optimal

Not just “within normal limits.” A 50-year-old should not have the estrogen of an 80-year-old.

Micronutrients

Vitamin and mineral levels, and omega-3 and omega-6 balance. Your body cannot do the things if it does not have the things.

Food sensitivities

IgA and IgG antibody testing to foods. Most patients find it one of the most useful tests they have done.

Who we help

Pick the one that sounds like you.

Perimenopause is the bumpy transition when hormones fluctuate and fall. It can last a few months or ten years, and symptoms can start in your 30s. Menopause is when periods have stopped for 12 months. Either way, the symptoms are real, and “your labs are normal” is not an answer.

Women tell us about:

  • Hot flashes and night sweats
  • Brain fog and low motivation
  • Fatigue and poor sleep
  • Weight gain that will not budge
  • Hair loss and joint pain
  • Vaginal dryness and low libido
  • Irritability

Low energy, brain fog, low motivation, trouble sleeping, irritability, low libido, less strength. Men usually describe it as feeling like a different version of themselves. Sometimes testosterone is the issue. Sometimes something else is keeping your body from making or using it well.

We check:

  • Total and free testosterone, estradiol, DHEA and SHBG
  • PSA, CBC and CMP
  • Nutrient levels, sleep, diet and training
  • Everything else that affects how you feel, not just one number

You have told someone your symptoms. You were given a prescription, or told it was stress, or sent to another specialist. The labs came back “normal” and you still do not feel well. This is the patient we see most, and it is why this practice exists.

We help with:

  • Fatigue, brain fog and poor sleep
  • Thyroid, inflammation and autoimmune concerns
  • Gut issues: bloating, reflux, constipation, food reactions
  • Blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol
  • Mood, anxiety and ADHD
  • Weight loss
  • Wellness, sports optimization and longevity

What happens at your first visit

Your first visit is a full hour with a nurse practitioner. Here is how it goes.

1

We talk about all of it

Your history, energy, sleep, mood, digestion, hormones, diet, exercise, supplements, medications and what “feeling well” means to you.

2

A hands-on exam

Vitals, heart and lungs, lymph nodes, thyroid and abdomen.

3

Labs chosen together

We decide what we need and what you want, and we go over the cost of every lab before anything is drawn. Labs are drawn right here.

4

Lab review, about 3 weeks later

A 30 to 45 minute visit to go through every result and, more importantly, what to do about it.

5

Your plan

Diet and lifestyle changes, a supplement regimen, and medication only if it is needed. Then a 3-month check to see what moved.

After that: every 3 months if we are monitoring something closely, every 6 months on a prescription, and yearly for wellness. Labs are repeated only as often as they need to be, and we never repeat labs you just had done elsewhere.

Meet your providers

Three nurse practitioners, a nursing team and a manager who have all chosen this kind of medicine on purpose.

Jori Carnithan, APN-FPA, founder of CMR Medical in Yorkville, IL

Nurse Practitioner

Medical Lead

Jori Carnithan, APN-FPA

Jori spent over two decades in emergency rooms, pediatrics and helicopter trauma response before founding CMR Medical. Saving lives was the job, but she kept asking who was taking care of patients afterward, and how many illnesses could have been prevented if someone had been paying attention. That question became this practice.

RN since 2004 and a nurse practitioner since 2012, with Full Practice Authority in Illinois. Board certified through ANCC, trained in bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, and certified in clinical homeopathy. Before CMR she practiced at Whole Child, an integrative pediatric and family practice, and in the ERs at Mercy Hospital and Ozarks Medical Center.

Ask her about:

  • Hormone therapy for women and men
  • Thyroid, inflammation and autoimmune concerns
  • Wellness and longevity
  • Family care, including kids

“I believe healthcare starts with genuinely listening. Before we talk about labs, protocols, or treatment plans, we take the time to understand you.”

She is also our peptides expert. Peptide therapy is offered inside an integrative medicine plan, after labs and a real conversation about your goals. BSN from Aurora University, MSN from Chamberlain University.

Ask her about:

  • Peptide therapy
  • Integrative family care
  • Getting to the bottom of symptoms your PCP brushed off

“Focusing on integrative and holistic health is a passion of mine, and I am so excited to meet you.”

  • Hormone health
  • PRP for joints, tendons and old injuries
  • Aesthetics consults

Transparent pricing

No membership fee. You pay for the visits you have.

New patient visit

$395

60 minutes with a nurse practitioner. Everyone starts here, including hormone and testosterone patients.

Lab review

$205 to $285

30 to 45 minutes, about three weeks after your first visit. Every result explained, and your plan built.

Follow-up visits

$205

30 minutes. Every 3 months when we are monitoring closely, every 6 months on a prescription, yearly for wellness.

Labs are separate and discussed with you before anything is drawn. Standard labs go to Health Lab and are often covered by PPO insurance; we also have self-pay panels if you do not have insurance. Specialty labs like micronutrients and food sensitivities go to an independent self-pay lab, which keeps the cost down and transparent.
Medications are sent to your pharmacy or compounded. As an example, compounded bioidentical hormone cream usually runs about $200 for three months, and a pellet insertion is about $400 and lasts about four months.

What Our

Patients Say

What Our Patients Say

Got questions?

Can I keep my regular doctor?

Yes. We are protective of our patients, not possessive. Keep your PCP and let us handle the rest, or let us handle everything. Both work.

Do you prescribe medication?

Yes, when it is needed. Our nurse practitioners have Full Practice Authority in Illinois, including controlled substances. We just do not reach for a prescription first when the root of the problem can be addressed another way.

Do I need a referral?

No. Book directly, no referral and no insurance approval needed.

What labs will I need?

It depends on you. Most people start with standard fasted labs plus a closer look: fasting insulin, Free T4 and Free T3 with thyroid antibodies, inflammation markers, and hormones when appropriate. Micronutrient and food sensitivity testing is recommended for most patients. If you just had labs done, bring them. We will not repeat what you already have.

How often will I come in?

First visit, then a lab review about three weeks later, then a 3-month check. After that, every 3 months if we are monitoring something closely or prescribing a controlled substance, every 6 months on other prescriptions, and yearly for wellness.

Is hormone therapy safe?

The old Women’s Health Initiative study that scared a generation off hormones has been re-evaluated. Bioidentical hormones are different from the synthetic hormones of that era, and starting within ten years of menopause is associated with lower risks of osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease and dementia. Hormones are monitored closely here, and women fighting a hormone-positive cancer are not candidates. For men, we screen PSA and blood counts with every round of labs. Every patient is different, and we will talk through your risks and benefits honestly.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

Your insurance card, a list of your medications with doses, your supplements (the bottles or a photo of the labels), and any recent labs.

Do you take insurance?

We are out of network by choice, which lets us build your care around you instead of around visit limits. Many PPO plans still cover the standard labs we send to Health Lab. Your HSA or FSA card works here, we will give you a superbill any time, and CareCredit financing is available.

When to see someone else first

We take the first several steps of almost any concern ourselves, and we refer when you need more. Please go to the ER for anything that needs immediate imaging or treatment: chest pain, a possible broken bone, signs of appendicitis. For cardiac testing we refer to a cardiologist, and for an endoscopy or colonoscopy we refer to GI. If you need advanced endocrinology or rheumatology care, we will tell you.

Paying for care

We are out of network by choice, and we work to make paying for care simple. Your HSA or FSA card works here the same as it does anywhere else. Ask for a superbill any time and we will give you one at no charge, so you can submit for out of network reimbursement. And CareCredit financing lets you spread a larger plan of care over time instead of paying for it all at once.

Apply with CareCredit

Subject to credit approval. Promotional financing terms are set by CareCredit, not by CMR Health Group.

You are a whole person. We treat you like one.
